(VIDEO) Senator Rand Paul Educates CBS’ Face the Nation on Constitutional Legislative Process
Check out the video above featuring Rand Paul discussing the House’s latest funding bill, which funds the government, avoids a government shutdown, and delays ObamaCare for a year. VIDEO LINK
Sen. Paul: Obama can’t get everything he wants on ObamaCare, if Congress fails to reach an agreement on the budget and Obamacare, and the government shuts down, Democrats’ “my way or the highway” approach would be to blame. PAY CLOSE ATTENTION to the hosts question at 2:30, basically, would you rather be correct than politically electable? Amazing question by a broadcaster who’s supposed to be looking out for the people.
Below are some of the groups concerned over the ACA that Rand Paul mentioned, as well as a link to my main issue with the bill at the end.
“Right now, unless you and the Obama Administration enact an equitable fix, the ACA will shatter not only our hard-earned health benefits, but destroy the foundation of the 40 hour work week that is the backbone of the American middle class… We can no longer stand silent in the face of elements of the Affordable Care Act that will destroy the very health and wellbeing of our members along with millions of other hardworking Americans.”
“This only works, for example, if young people show up, and even if they buy the cheapest plan, then they claim their tax credit so it won’t cost them much, 100 bucks a month or so. We’ve got to have them in the pools, because otherwise all these projected low costs cannot be held if older people with preexisting conditions are disproportionately represented in any given state. You’ve got to have everybody lined up.”
– Bill Clinton
JACK WELCH: (regarding recovery) Absolutely. It’s steady. It’s slow. Nowhere’s near enough. And I’m concerned that things, we got two big things coming at us. We got Dodd-Frank, which isn’t out yet, really. And we got Obamacare. and Obamacare, when you look at the complexities in that plan, health care costs are going to go up, they’re not going to go down. and you’ve got temporary workers to deal with. Retail has got a hell of a problem. Going from 35 hours a week to 30 hours a week for a temporary employee. If you’ve got 50 employees. You want 49. There’s so many complexities in these two things. so my concern about acceleration, is regulatory. Warren may have a different view of that.
WARREN BUFFETT: Interesting thing is I agree with everything Jack has said, but it’s — it’s I don’t come away as pessimistic as he does. But he’s absolutely right about, you know, about what’s happening with health care, and everything. I don’t disagree with a word that he said. that he said.
USA Today 09/08/13 poll shows that 41% of Americans strongly disapprove of Affordable Care Act while only 26% strongly approve.
