How about they spend their time fixing the real problems first, instead of proposing badly thought out regulations to appear like they are doing something for us… So you cant have a large coke, but a diet coke full of artificial sugars or a 500+ calorie frappuccino are ok? The results of an Associated Press investigation have revealed some information that should surely surprise those who trust politicians with their cash, those who think raising taxes is the answer to our spending problems for example. It turns out that cash from California’s 911 memorial license plate program which was promoted to fund scholarships for victims of the tragedy has been misappropriated. Instead of the promised 15%, only about 1.5% of the funds raised from California supporters has found its way to its intended recipients. In the private sector, this could qualify as illegal embezzlement, but not when our government does it, perhaps because its simply the standard way of operating. Not only that but the program was stopped in 2005 yet the DMV kept the program active, collecting cash under false pretenses, until reporters began investigating earlier this year… what a surprise. This past Sunday, the Mayor of Newark New Jersey, Cory Booker appeared on NBC’s Meet the Press. I was watching that episode, and strangely enough I actually even recorded the audio, don’t ask me why. During the course of a discussion he expressed his disgust at the way the presidential political campaigns are distorting issues to attack the other side, specifically president Obama’s strategy to use Bain Capital as his primary weapon against Romney. The problem? Booker is a democrat, and it appears he forgot to think about political strategy before voicing his honest concerns. Read more
